The guy on myspace could be a really bad person pretending to be someone else. Just let him know you made a mistake and since you've had time to think it over you think it would be best if you retracted your previous answer. Let him know that you don't even know him well enough to date him at this point, if he wants to hang out, cool, then you guys can see where it goes from there.

It could be one of his friends on his account screwing things up, so make sure your on for a date next time you see him in "real life" and then tell him that since he didn't respond earlier, than you shouldn't be going out with him. THEN you ask the other guy out!
